Extra Large Jewelry Box with Wood Inlay Work using Kewazinga Wood
A large wood jewelry box comes in handy when you find that you are unable to keep track of your jewelry. You can get really frustrated if you can't find that perfect set of earrings when you are all dressed and ready to go.
You can easily remove this stress and also save yourself a lot of time by sorting out your jewelry and keeping it neatly arranged in a single place. But don't rush off to get some bulky wooden jewelry box that will do nothing for the look for your room. There are many exquisitely designed handmade extra large jewelry boxes you can select from. Some boxes have some extraordinarily exquisite marquetry work (wood inlay) done on them with exotic and rare wood like the Kewazinga.
However, it can be a very expensive proposition to get an entire jewelry box made of Kewazinga. You could instead opt for rubber wood jewelry boxes that are exquisitely embellished with marquetry work. These boxes will perfectly blend with the rest of the furniture and will look awesome on your dresser.
Kewazinga, commonly known as the Bubinga, has several other names: Eban, Akume, Kewazingo and strangely ‘African Rosewood’ although it is not a rosewood. It has several Latin names and the two most common are Guibourtia tessmannii and Guibbourtia demeusei. It hails predominantly from Western Africa and some parts of Central Africa. The largest producers of this exotic wood are Cameroon, the Congo, and Gaboon.
It is a narrow grained, wavy figured extremely lustrous hardwood but can easily be cut into long and wide logs. Each cut of the wood reveals a totally exclusive pattern like the 'Flame Effect'. The boards can measure up to 16 inches in length and 35 inches in width! When you strike a Bubinga log you can hear a crystal clear musical note, which makes the wood ideal for making harps and other musical instruments.
Its color is awesome with a shimmering rose background that slowly turns into a copper red with age that is accented by deep streaks of violet. It, in effect, looks like it has several shades of red with purple overtones. The wood definitely darkens and changes color with time.
The sapwood is more susceptible when compared to the Kewazinga hardwood which is highly resistant to preservatives and termites. Care should be taken while sanding the wood as the dust can cause serious skin allergies just like other exotic woods.
A jewelry box embellished with marquetry with the Kewazinga wood adds class and charm to your room, and enhances the beauty of your jewelry.
